Outduction: Enhancing the final year experience
The Outduction Interns were at the University of Bradford's 20 Mile Fair on 4 April 2011. This is the third year that Outduction has been at this event. In 2009 the Outduction Interns used the 20 Mile Fair to advertise their own Outduction event. In 2010 and 2011 they had their own stand and collected data from final year students regarding their final year achievements, highlights, memories and challenges.
This successful, popular Fair is now a well-established event on the University of Bradford's Career Development Services yearly calendar. It enables organisations offering local opportunities to meet informally with students and graduates who are looking to start building their careers within the Bradford region.
The Fair aims to cover a variety of opportunities, from immediate/future vacancies for graduates, work experience/internships for students, casual part time jobs, volunteering, business start up etc and is of interest to all students and new graduates who are looking to develop their careers locally.
The 2011 Fair featured organisations offering opportunities, such as:
Immediate and/or future vacancies for new graduates
Work experience opportunities, including internships
Part time jobs and summer vacation work
Further study and training opportunities
Volunteering opportunities
Advice and support for those wanting to start a business
Information services to help you look for work
Community support organisations.
For students keen to develop their career in the local area, an understanding of the local labour market is crucial to their success. The Fair aims to educate them about the range of opportunities available both now and in the future and how to make the most of them. Students are also offered guidance on how to give themselves the best chance of success.
