- The interns Outduction event - April
2010
Event organised by interns for students entering their final year to raise
awareness of what to expect of the final year and to offer information
on choices post university.
- Kingston Futures
web site
A new web site for students from the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture
to help them understand more about the choices that are available to them
as they complete their course and how they can move on positively into
employment, self employment or further study.
- 'You're
Hired' - 25 November 2009
Event for final year students - consists of employer led skills workshops,
followed by speed interviewing and networking.
- Each school – spotlight event eg 22 October spotlight
on HRM for final year, postgrad, alumni.
Includes industry panel (Greg Dyke), speed interviewing and networking
- a professional panel discussion designed to raise questions and discussion
about hot topics afecting the industry to get students up to speed with
what is affecting their sector, and what to expect upon graduation.
- The interns Outduction event -
15 October 2009
Event organised by interns for students entering their final year to raise
awareness of what to expect of the final year and to offer information
on choices post university. To kick start the final year and enable students
to have an event specifically for them, i.e. the fresher’s fair
for the final year. Allow engagement between the various guests and students;
networking opportunities and to identify successes/failures of the event
for future Outduction events.
- Final year/postgrad: CV lab twice weekly from
28 September 2009 - cover letter, application, interview
skills
Practical workshops and sessions to support final year and PG students
to help them to sell their skills and achievements to employers, and to
prepare them for the graduate recruitment process
- PAL (Peer Assisted Learning) interviews for case study
- 15 & 18 September 2009
PAL is a peer to peer support scheme run by students, for students (coordinated
by tutor) to foster cross-year support between students studying on the
same course. Trained, more experienced students (PAL leaders) support
less experienced students. The interns have developed a simple two-question
page for new PAL trainees, which will be followed-up at the end of the
year’s training. Feedback and a case study will be developed.
- Final year speed interviews x12 over year
Opportunities for students to practice their interview skills and answers,
in a safe environment, whilst getting feedback on their performance to
help them develop for the real thing!

Invitation to staff and students to tell us what they thought about the
final undergraduate experience; what they felt were the key issues for
them about the final year and their views on projects, dissertations,
final year shows and planning for life after university. Very good feedback
from this event.
